Super Bowl 2024 Recap: Commercial Break

Super Bowl 2024 wasn’t just about touchdowns and points scored, it was also about the epic commercials that kept us glued to our couches even during halftime. Let`s dig into this year`s commercials with a selection of my favorite brands – cuz they don`t ever miss.

Don’t forget to get your popcorn and enjoy, for once, the commercials.

1. Dove: Hard Knocks

Dove chose to go with the “sometimes we fall, but we do it with confidence” idea for Super Bowl 2024. The message of this year’s commercial is to remind people that girls are just as resilient to falls, bumps, failures, lost competitions – but that it shouldn’t affect their self-esteem. In a world where girls are excluded from sports because of their bodies, Dove is here to remind us what counts in the end: it doesn’t matter what you look like, it matters that you get up when you fall.

2. Kawasaki: Mullets

This one gives ✨Troy Bolton in the golf cart, but more manly✨ which makes this spot so good. Basically, we have a teeny tiny 4×4 Kawasaki car that men drive with pride because it has a strong engine and tough suspension. This immortal concept from the 80s tells us that business in the front, party in the back is a motto we should live by even in 2024. Why, because it’s iconic. Plus, in case you haven’t noticed already, the mullet is back in full swing among the most influential people. Hint: Jacob Elordi, Jungkook, Paul Mescal. 🤭

3. Paramount+: Sir Patrick Stewart Throws a Hail Arnold

What would you do with $28 million? Because Paramount+ made this commercial that, to be honest, is the essence of humanity at it`s finest. Getting two minutes of advertising at Super Bowl 2024, in this economy, is the biggest statement you can make as a brand. And I find the seeming chaos between actors and animation to be sensational, one of my guilty cinematic pleasures. Ah, did I mention that that $28 million budget doesn’t include actor pay? Oh, well.

4. T-Mobile Home Internet: That T-Mobile Home Internet Feeling

How many times have you watched this commercial? WHAT A FEELING! *dance, dance* I HAVE WIFI NOW!! *dance, dance* Jason Momoa is the reason I think we still have hope for world peace. T-Mobile knows its audience and has banked on the idea of “wanna see him without the lag? we got you, sweetie!”. Momoa is down for literally EVERYTHING and you might think he’s just an uninhibited actor, but oh, no – this is just him. 🙌

5. Mountain Dew Baja Blast: Having a Blast

Mountain Dew and I were having a love-hate relationship. But I could skip the hate part after this Super Bowl 2024 commercial. Aubrey Plaza is my real representation when I’m in social settings with lots of people – or just social settings. It`s very important to have a coping mechanism handy at such times, and MTN Dew knew how to use sarcasm at it`s finest – through the qween of it.

6. e.l.f. Cosmetics: In e.l.f. We Trust

I`m more of a Rimmel London girl, but the e.l.f. spot It’s SO GOOD and very Gen Z coded. It used the classic Judge Judy concept, with actors from Suits which, mind you, rose once again to shine fix from the depths of streaming platforms. It added a bit of sassy attitude and a funny, yet thrilling script and thus managed to be one of the best spots of Super Bowl 2024. I aspire to be like Judge Beauty, iconic.🔥

So, here we are at the end of the recap. There were a lot of good commercials this year, including Uber Eats, Dunkin and Popeye`s. And let`s not forget the movie trailer inserts: Wicked is coming in the fall and I can`t wait to see it! The film is an adaptation after the famous musical, so please don`t be surprised by the singing.

Here, if you’ve already gone through the selection of commercials, let me remind you how Taylor Swift took over the NFL a few months ago. Let’s keep you busy until the next post. See yaaa!
