Fete GenZ care stau la o cafea iarna și se uită pe Threads App.

Threads App, the place where you come to vent

Mark Zuckerberg: „Today we’re opening Threads App to more countries in Europe. Welcome everyone”

It was with this sentence that the platform where political correctness DOES NOT EXIST began in Romania.

Let’s start with a little introduction to the history of Threads:

Threads is an app developed by Instagram where you can view and share public conversations. Depending on how you use the Threads App you can also post discussions, reply to others and follow profiles that interest you. Threads and replies can include short pieces of text, links, photos, videos, or any combination of them.

Long story short, it’s this Twitter of Instagram, and Zucky has some beef with Elon Musk and said “hold on I can do it too” and I’m living for it. My first Thread that I’m supporting and I actually think that’s the real vibe at the moment, you feel like you’re out for some seeds outside the block. With all of Romania.

The app has not yet been monopolized by ads, the brands and influencers that have tried to enter have had good openings and have only been liked by the public if they have a sense of humor. Well, some also characterize it as this oasis of hate. Let’s face it guys, this thing won’t last much longer, 2 weeks max. Until then I’m there to study everything I can. The app works in very questionable ways for the brain: log in, read something, make a cross, read a comment, laugh out loud, read another comment, I GASP. That’s the operating principle.

We can post as a voicemail. HOW COOL?

How Threads App works

Americans use Twitter very raw. The difference is that we, as Romanians, have a slightly more developed vocabulary when it comes to sentence creativity, but it seems to me that it’s 1:1 with what’s happening on certain parts of Twitter.

So far, it’s not an app to be taken seriously. It’s all fun and games for the moment. No body positivity, no positive vibes, none of the lexical field of online rainbows and cotton candy, no. Instead we have many people who have let their intrusive thoughts and voices win. For now it’s a platform for those who don’t take anything seriously, who are there to laugh at lots and lots of black humour (trust me, there’s some of that) and to learn 3 new (we have to keep it professional) phrases a minute.

If you’re an influencer instead, things change. If you’re an Influencer trying your luck with “positive vibes” now, it’s way too early. Think of us as our parents after the Revolution, day one exactly. In a world full of cosmetics, aesthetics, political correctness and other synonyms, Threads emerged. Still not the time for positive vibes. It’s a pent-up rage that needs to be let off the hook. Here are those people who get mad about something, write, delete, write, delete…. and end up replying with “K”. These people have found a safe space here and let all their thoughts run free. It’s like when you get in a fight with someone, you get in the shower, remember the fight and you get 5 more good lines. Threads is the shower. Makes sense?

Threads, a safe space for GenZ

Just to get the vibe of it. For now, I repeat, it won’t last very long. Threads will come around, too, but you know it’s still going to be a humorous thing. I think it’s going to be something very similar to the comments on TikTok if they were posts, that’s kind of how Generation Z is going to keep it going.

Influencers who have caught on to the scheme are super appreciated right now on Threads App. The best example is Delia and surprise surprise… Lino Golden (who had some redemption arc this weekend on Threads).

How you communicate as a brand on Threads App

From an advertising point of view it seems like such a good opportunity for brands to make an account! But first they need to gargle with cold water, realise they need to be funny and not be afraid to challenge their communication barriers a bit.

Benefit Cosmetics UK joined Threads and their first post was: “They forced us from global to make an account.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How good was that? A D O R E. That’s the tone of voice brands need to use here.

I think we will soon be able to do campaigns, but on products that Generation Z really believes in. Otherwise, if someone comes along and advertises a new cream they might be surprised by unorthodox responses.

For now it’s a fun, freeing platform, people are still testing it out. We’re fascinated by the fact that we can give voice message commentary, how awesome is that? We can make posts as voicemail. HOW COOL?

Come on as many as you can on Threads, please arm yourself with popcorn because without wanting to you’ll get caught up in the beef and trust me, you’ll read it. Get ready to laugh. And big, big advice: DON’T take anything in there seriously!

P.S: The only flaw with this app is that you forget to enter the others. Otherwise… see you there!
