Brands on TikTok this Halloween – a trend in itself, increasingly prominent in recent years. October 31 was the night of the witches, or Halloween, as it’s called abroad. In Romania it’s not such a well covered and appreciated topic, but I have a feeling that in a few years it’s going to take off due to the change of mentality of the generations, so it’s good to take notes now, us advertising people.

Now that we’ve set the general mood for this article, I want to browse a bit through what brands did on TikTok this Halloween.

My favorites all the time, and I think you’ve already noticed this pattern with me: Duo Lingo. Btw, reminder: if you haven’t done your Spanish/French/Japanese/Portuguese etc lesson and lost your streaks, Duo is coming for you to kidnap you and lock you in the basement. I’m not joking (moment of appreciation for the community management on the TikTok Duo Lingo account).

Who hasn’t seen Mean Girls?

  • If you haven’t seen this classic starring Linsday Lohan by now stop everything you’re doing and watch the movie. You have no excuse. Linsday Lohan, or Cady from Mean Girls, had this famous quote, “Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total ^#%*@(^$#! and no other girls can say anything about it.” Of course, referring to those classic American high school parties, but very, very relatable. Duo Lingo made the most of the sound and of course they did something fun in their characteristic way:

Fun fact: the censor on the sound is the noise the app makes when you give a wrong answer when completing your lessons. Smart, right?

  • Here I’ll show you one of the brands on TikTok this Halloween that deserved more: Taco Bell. If by Christmas I don’t see the Grinch’s hands doing the same thing… I’m taking my toys and leaving:
  • Fenty Beauty. This is where I laughed out loud. Remember Rihanna’s moment at SuperBowl? If you don’t let me help refresh your memory, here. Anyway, Fenty Beauty is Rihanna’s cosmetics line for short. I don’t know who came up with the idea, but they deserve a raise, they recreated her SuperBowl moment in a super fun and creative way:
  • Barbie all the way. Barbie is one of the brands on TikTok this Halloween that did a very cool and fun sketch where the main characters were, of course, the dolls from the Barbie collection and with a very funny voice over:
  • Fortnite. Fortnite’s approach was a classic Halloween Stans vs. Christmas Stans. We all have that friend who listens to carols in July (I’m that friend). Funny enough, Fortnite has capitalized on the war of the two holidays in a very relatable way. For example, I can say that the pumpkin is Madie, my colleague whose blog posts you read here (you rock, girl!), and the chick who doesn’t live by the calendar is me:

You know how GenZ says every year they’re going to do that photo shoot where they costume like ghosts with a sheet and sunglasses? Guess who gave them ideas and reminded them that it’s been another year since they did it: Crocs. Slowly, but surely, Crocs is making its way to my top content-wise. Now I’m also a little biased, I like Crocs. But still, they too are among the brands on TikTok this Halloween, look what they did:

There are a buuuuunch of other brands that have taken this opportunity, but I’ve showcased my favourites and the ones I thought were the most ingenious.
